Kolkata: Mysore Family Fateha Fund Committee Waqf Estate (MFFFCWE) on Thursday condemned the scrapping of Tipu Sultan Jayanti celebrations in Karnataka. The committee has decided to write to the Central government and protest against the decision of the BJP-ruled Karnataka government in this regard. “We condemn the decision of scrapping Tipu Sultan Jayanti celebrations in Karnataka. Tipu Sultan is considered as the Tiger of Mysore. This is a direct attack on the communal harmony of the country,” said Sahebzada Md Shahid Alam, secretary, MFFFCWE. The order came barely a day after Yeddyurappa proved his majority in the Legislative Assembly. “Within a month’s time we will write to the Central government mentioning that the Karnataka government’s decision to scrap Tipu Sultan Jayanti celebrations is illogical,” he added.
