Man Utd plans to sign EIGHT new playersby Paul Vegas14 days agoSend to a friendShare the loveManchester United have plans to sign EIGHT new players over the next two summer transfer windows.Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side have had a woeful start to the season and currently sit 15 points behind leaders Liverpool already after just eight matches. The Telegraph says United are well aware of their need to improve their playing staff and will make a number of signings over the next two summers. One of those incomings could be brought forward to January too amid growing concern that a challenge for Champions League football could already be on the rocks. It is claimed the club believe they are “six players short of challenging for major honours” and the overhaul of players will be led by Solskjaer, who still has the full backing of the club.”Ole is looking at a three-year vision of a squad. It will be an evolution over the coming years,” a source said. “We are at base camp now.” TagsTransfersAbout the authorPaul VegasShare the loveHave your say

BTN.You’ve heard it a lot over the years.A former Ohio State football player introduces himself during an NFL broadcast and concludes his introduction with an emphatic, “The Ohio State University.”Who started that tradition?Apparently, it was former Buckeye running back Robert Smith.“It is true,” Smith said on the Big Ten Network earlier this week. “It was the official name of the university and they made a point in around 1994 to emphasize it.”It was Robert Smith who started saying THE Ohio State University in the NFL introductions! pic.twitter.com/F6h7BF4dYb— Buckeye Videos+ (@BuckeyeVideos) September 1, 2016Smith played at Ohio State in the early 1990s before going on to star in the NFL with the Minnesota Vikings. Match Preview Burton Albion have undoubtedly been the story of the Carabao Cup this season, having made apparently impossible progress to the semi-final of the competition. They had never been beyond the last-16 of any national knockout tournament previously. However, they are not the only lower-league club in recent years to enjoy such a run and as they prepare for two matches against the millionaires of Manchester City they do so with Bradford City’s exploits in 2013 in mind. That season, Bradford knocked out three Premier League clubs as they reached the final at Wembley.Burton’s run may not have been quite so dazzling, but they have still eliminated Burnley, as well as three Championship sides to reach the final four.“When we saw the draw on Sky and there were four teams in the draw it started with No 1 Burton Albion. Then we looked down and we saw Chelsea, wow! Then we saw Manchester City, wow! Then we saw Tottenham, wow!” chairman Ben Robinson told Sky Sports News.“It is very much a case of pinching ourselves and thinking it is another great occasion to look forward to.“Manchester City are the current Premier League champions, it is over two legs so we will go there on Wednesday and we will enjoy the occasion but I think it is about damage limitation after seeing the demolition of Rotherham in the FA Cup on Sunday.”City had six different scorers at the weekend as they dismantled Rotherham, a side in a higher league than Burton, 7-0 in the FA Cup.Pep Guardiola’s side are unlikely to have little time for romanticism either, as their packed scheduled combined with their position four points behind Liverpool in the league means that they will try to finish this tie off at the first time of asking.Last season he was almost stung by deploying a weakened team at this stage of the competition against Bristol City as they scraped to a 2-1 home win and he will be eager to avoid such an eventuality again.
Former Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand is not ruling out a return to the club in a director of football capacity but wants assurances before committing to the role. The 40-year-old spent 12 years of his playing career at Old Trafford, winning 14 trophies in total including six Premier League titles and the Champions League. He has been identified as one of the frontrunners to become United’s first technical director, having already sat down with executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward for an initial discussion. The Red Devils are hoping to have the position filled before the start of the 2019-20 campaign, but Ferdinand has reservations over taking the job.Although the one-time England international is interested in a return to United, he is unsure over the exact details of the role in question.”It all depends on the shape of the job,” Ferdinand told the Telegraph. “I don’t think it’s all been outlined at Man United in terms of ‘that’s the job and this is the description’. I think there’s a lot to talk about within that.”To be fair to Man United, in that kind of role, the responsibility that comes with that, you can’t lie and say that that’s not a turn-on.”Because you are helping to shape the fortunes of a club of that stature. That’s a huge job.”All the boxes would have to be ticked that you’ve got in your head before considering something like that.”I think decisions made at a football club – not all (but) some of them – should come with a football thought process in the background somewhere, (someone) that understands that side of it and can make that kind of decision.”Despite maintaining their commercial success, United have struggled on the pitch since Sir Alex Ferguson retired in 2013, with four managers drafted in to fill his sizeable shoes.Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is the latest to take up the mantle, but he was only able to guide the team to a sixth-place Premier League finish last season, after earning a permanent contract in March.Ferdinand feels his old club need to rediscover their identity in order to start moving forward again, referencing Liverpool and Manchester City’s blueprint for success as an example to follow.”Man United are looking for their ideology still,” he said.”They went away from it after Sir Alex Ferguson, they tried to take it on under different managers and it didn’t work, so they are still searching.”There needs to be some sort of story at a football club for the stars and the staff to believe in.”Liverpool have got that, Jurgen Klopp has created that. Man City have got that – Pep (Guardiola) has created that. But they have been allowed to create it. They have had time.”Do I think Man United can do that? I think time will tell – Ole has a window to work in and then he has to put that jigsaw in place.”It is a big gap between Man City, Liverpool and Spurs. They will build again, they will recruit again.” Check out Goal’s Premier League 2019-20 fantasy football podcast for game tips, debate and rivalries.

I just need to keep playing and hope I stay clear of injuries. I just have to keep working hard and helping the team. That’s the main thing.”Their hosts though will be determined to give a good account of themselves, with their coach Brian Schmetzer having spoken about the desire to impress for supporters against a European giant.“I want the guys who step on the field to make sure they’re focused on Dortmund because we obviously want to put on a performance,” he told their website. “Fans are paying money to watch us play. So, we need to make sure that the group that gets out there is prepared, organized and anxious to play.”
GLENDALE, AZ – DECEMBER 31: Head coach Urban Meyer of the Ohio State Buckeyes looks on against the Clemson Tigers during the 2016 PlayStation Fiesta Bowl at University of Phoenix Stadium on December 31, 2016 in Glendale, Arizona. (Photo by Matthew Stockman/Getty Images)Ohio State announced last week that head football coach Urban Meyer was being suspended for the first three games of the 2018 season as a result of the investigation into his handling of domestic violence allegations against now-fired assistant coach Zach Smith. The punishment for Meyer was decided after a lengthy Ohio State Board of Trustees meeting that began at 9 a.m. last Wednesday and ended close to 10 p.m.One Ohio State trustee has reportedly resigned from the board as a result of the punishment handed down to Meyer. He didn’t think it was harsh enough. The New York Times has more:An Ohio State trustee has resigned, saying a three-game suspension of the football coach Urban Meyer should have been more “profound” for his mishandling of domestic violence accusations against an assistant coach and for tolerating years of the assistant’s misbehavior. The trustee, Jeffrey Wadsworth, said in an interview on Thursday that he stepped down from the board shortly after the university announced Mr. Meyer’s punishment last week.“I didn’t feel that I’d seen high-integrity behavior,” Mr. Wadsworth said of Mr. Meyer. The trustee who resigned claims he was the only person pushing for a harsher punishment for Meyer. It’s unclear how much harsher of a punishment he was pushing for.Meyer is suspended for the first three games of the season, but he’s able to return to practice after the season-opening game on Saturday.Ohio State opens its season on Sept. 1 against Oregon State.

COLUMBUS, OH – SEPTEMBER 08: Acting head coach Ryan Day of the Ohio State Buckeyes looks on before the game against the Rutgers Scarlet Knights at Ohio Stadium on September 8, 2018 in Columbus, Ohio. (Photo by Joe Robbins/Getty Images)Ohio State enters a new era in 2019, with Ryan Day taking over the reins for Urban Meyer. Once again, the Buckeyes will be breaking in a new starting quarterback as well.Dwayne Haskins stepped in for J.T. Barrett in 2018, and exceeded expectations. Haskins smashed records en route to becoming a Heisman Trophy finalist and establishing himself as the top quarterback in this year’s draft. All season long, it looked like Tate Martell was set to step in for Haskins in 2019, but then Georgia five-star freshman Justin Fields transferred in and everything changed. Martell did not want to wait and see if Fields obtains a waiver to play immediately, opting instead to transfer to Miami.Even with Fields in the fold, Ohio State’s quarterback depth is think, which is why ESPN named it the biggest concern for the Buckeyes right now.The Buckeyes have seen record-setting quarterback Dwayne Haskins enter the NFL draft and backup Tate Martell transfer to Miami. If transfer quarterback Justin Fields is not eligible immediately in 2019, Matthew Baldwin is the next man up and really the only other option. Ohio State had a quarterback committed in the 2019 class in Dwan Mathis, but he flipped to Georgia on signing day. As a redshirt freshman in 2019, Baldwin is yet to see any game action and would be leading a team with a new head coach and a lot of eyes watching to see what plays out in Ryan Day’s first season taking over for Urban Meyer. If Fields can play right away, he and Baldwin would be Ohio State’s top two options, as of now. It seems likely that the Buckeyes will be involved in the grad transfer market at the position.Texas A&M’s Nick Starkel has emerged as a potential option, as Ohio State is reportedly one of the schools he is considering. However, the question with Starkel and any other veteran transfer is would they be willing to come to Ohio State for a marginal role as a backup.Texas A&M QB Nick Starkel will hit the transfer portal any minute now & will not participate in spring practice, he said. Will complete 120 hours before July & should be on new campus July 1. Said he’s looking at Duke, Ohio State, SMU & Arizona (former HC Kevin Sumlin).— ?????? ?. ????? (@Travis_L_Brown) January 23, 2019If Starkel does come to Columbus and in effect takes Martell’s spot, that would be incredibly ironic considering the connection the two of them have from back when Martell was an A&M commit.

(IANS Photo)HIGHLIGHTSRoger Federer will be returning to clay surface at the Madrid Open this weekFederer last competed at clay in Rome in May 2016Federer, 37, said he will not burden himself with expectaions on this surfaceFormer world number one Roger Federer said he was glad he made the decision to return to clay courts as he prepares for the Madrid Open this week, three years after his last match on the surface.Federer had skipped the clay court season the past two years since last competing in Rome in May 2016 but confirmed his participation for the tournament in Madrid earlier this year.”I’m happy that the decision I took last December, when I started feeling like I definitely want to play on the clay, was the right one,” Federer, 37, told reporters.”I haven’t looked back yet during the clay court build-up, thinking, ‘Ah, maybe I shouldn’t have.’ I’m happy I’m here, I’m happy I am on the surface.”It takes some time getting used to how to construct the points a little bit more because there is more baseline (play), a possibility to play with more angles and height. It’s been interesting and fun, but not so challenging.”Federer, who recently won his 101st singles title in Miami, is the tournament’s fourth seed behind world number one Novak Djokovic, Rafa Nadal and Alexander Zverev. However, the 20-times Grand Slam singles champion said he was not trying to burden himself with expectations when he steps out on court at the Caja Magica.”It will be interesting to see how this tournament goes,” Federer added. “I do not have high expectations in some ways.”But at the same time I also know that things are possible. World Cup 2019: ICC ACU Manager confirms no current player is under corruption cloudThis is first time in the history of World Cup that all 10 teams competing for the precious cup will have their own dedicated anti-corruption manager. Press Trust of India LondonMay 24, 2019UPDATED: May 24, 2019 19:24 IST ICC Anti-Corruption official Alex Marshall expects the safest World Cup in the history of the global meet.(Reuters Photo)HIGHLIGHTSWorld Cup 2019 is scheduled to be hosted by England and Wales, from 30 May to 14 JulyICC ACU Manager is confident that corruptors will not be able to breach protective layers around the playersACU wing will keep a hawk eye on the list of potential corruptorsNone of the current crop of international cricketers, set to compete in the upcoming ICC World Cup, is under scanner claimed governing body’s top Anti-Corruption official Alex Marshall, who expects the “safest” tournament in the history of the global meet. For the first time ever, all 10 teams competing over the next six weeks in England and Wales will have their own dedicated anti-corruption manager, travelling with them.”Over the last 18 months, we have charged 14 or 15 people. None of those are current players. The people we have charged are administrators, senior administrators, board members, coaches, ex-players and an analyst. These are people on the edge of the squad, not people currently among the player group,” confirmed ICC GM (ACU) Marshall during a media conference on Friday.”In addition to the people we have charged, we have also disrupted more than 30 corruptors who are outside our code, but we nevertheless pursued them wherever they are in the world to make it hard for them to operate as corruptors anywhere near cricket,” he added. He is confident that the corruptors will not be able to breach the protective layers around the players.”When corruptors look at the World Cup they see a very well organised, professional, well governed and well protected event. This is a very tough event for corruptors to come near. Of course they (corruptors) would love to, the yields would be high but our job throughout the World Cup will be to make sure they don’t get near it.”Marshall said that players have been apprised of the threat perception and the ACU wing will keep a hawk eye on the list of potential corruptors.advertisement”The advantage we have at this World Cup is that I can guarantee everyone in every squad understands what the threat is, and what they should be looking out for, and they know how to keep themselves away from this problem,” he said.As far as the appointments of new ACU managers for the teams are concerned, the idea is to use them to create an off-field rapport that helps in nipping in the bud, any off-field suspicious activity.”These (managers) are my people who work all around the world and usually someone who has been working for that team over the last year anywhere, has been on tours and has a good relationship with the players and staff,” he added.Marshall is happy that more and more players are now confident of reporting corrupt approaches to the parent body.”We have developed a much closer relationship with the players and having them with across the whole World Cup just perpetuates that good relationship. And one of the indicators that we know it is working is a big increase in the number of reports coming in from the players.”However he agreed that the threat of corruptors will always be there.”The threat is active and constant, but once the players have a good awareness and are well protected and a tournament is well run and cricket itself becomes resistant, that makes it harder and harder for the corruptors and maybe they will go elsewhere. For sports news, updates, live scores and cricket fixtures, log on to indiatoday.in/sports. The Best Men’s Waterproof Boots for Tackling All Weather Editors’ Recommendations The Best Coffee-Infused Beers to Flip All the Switches 10 Destination-Worthy Food Halls Throughout the U.S. Ask any backpacker, mountain biker, or climber what is in their list of essential gear and a good pack is always at the top of the heap. However, finding that perfect pack for peak bagging or a long day of enduro riding is much easier said than done. You’ve got to find the right suspension for your load, size a pack to your gear (and your body), and then there’s the maze of confusion that is pack materials. You could easily get lost in your local REI‘s pack section for days and come out knowing less than when you went in. We recently spent a long weekend in Utah’s Wasatch Range with the team from Gregory Packs, and after beating on more than a few climbing and hiking packs, we can easily say that we found your next pack for any sport.Founded in 1977, Gregory Packs was Wayne Gregory’s early foray into pack design. After trying to push the limits of the standard external frame backpacks of the day, Gregory stumbled on a new fit system that is an industry standard to this day. Rather than building a one-size fits none most pack, Gregory Packs started offering packs with different waistbelt, harness, and torso sizing. Their commitment to custom sizing, and more importantly, customer service is evident today in their award winning line of hiking and alpine climbing packs. If you’re looking for a “do everything” kind of pack, the new Z40 is as near perfect as they come. Straddling the line of a large daypack and small weekend bag, it easily swallows everything you need for a long summit day in the Rockies, or some extra technical gear for climbing and ridge traverses in New Hampshire. It’s got a large U-zip pannel for full body access, so that you don’t have to unload everything to get at the first aid kit or rain jacket you stuffed at the bottom. For longer outings above the treeline, the Denali 75 is an expedition sized pack launched this spring that will accommodate a full complement of climbing gear, or an extra twelve pack of your favorite beer. It is most at home though hauling technical rock and ice gear for minimalist alpine mountaineering missions. Burly gear loops, attachment points to drag a sled in deep snow, and modular frame and suspension allow the Denali to be your one pack for any extended stay on the snow. Editors’ Recommendations 12 Classic Sci-Fi Novels Everyone Who Likes Reading Should Read Portion Control: The Best Meal Prep Containers on the Market The Best Podcasts to Listen to During Your Workout NASCAR Driver Brad Keselowski on Crashing, Winning, and Creating a Legacy GoldenEar is on to a formula that just works, and while the latest loudspeakers coming from the company represent more of an evolution than a revolution, the new SuperSub subwoofer GoldenEar showed off at CES 2016 is going to send shock waves through the industry — pun fully intended. If you’re looking for astounding sound at price that seems too good to be true, bone up on GoldenEar Technologies latest ware here, then head out to a local deal to give them a listen. You’ll see.As good as before, just a little moreThis year at CES 2016, GoldenEar showed off the Triton Two Plus and Triton Three Plus, re-voiced versions of the already-popular Triton Two and Triton Three speakers. The price for each model is little bit higher — $2500/pair for the Three Plus and $3500/pair for the Two Plus — but for the modest premium you get a notable increase in overall performance. The midrange and bass drivers have been swapped to match what the company uses in the newer Triton One and Triton Five speakers, as has the speaker’s crossover network and the DSP programming in the amplifier, which powers the bass drivers.I spent about 15 minutes listening to both new models, and I can confirm there’s a notable difference in the midrange character that matches what I’ve heard in the Triton One and Triton Five. As for changes in the bass performance and bass integration, I’ll take Sandy Gross’s word for it for now — he’s never misled me in the past — but I’ll certainly be exploring this area more deeply (again with the pun!) once I’ve received review samples. Otherwise, I enjoyed the same exemplary performance I’ve come to expect from GoldenEar’s Triton series during my brief audition. And, once again, I have to wonder how anyone could justify spending multiple times what these speakers cost when performance this outstanding is available at such a reasonable price.Forget what you think you know about subwoofersThe all-new SuperSub X is going to force the rest of the home audio industry to follow a new path. We’ve seen sealed subwoofers pairing active drivers with passive radiators in the past, but not quite like this. The SuperSub X pairs two 8-inch active drivers with two 10 x 11 -inch planar radiators, driven by a 1500-watt digital amplifier. This SuperSub, however, makes you question your understanding of the laws of physics. It seems inconceivable such forceful, linear, outright deep bass should come from a cabinet this small, and yet, it does.To be clear, I’ve heard some impressive compact subs before from the likes of Sunfire and Paradigm/Martin Logan (specifically the amazing Monitor SUB 8). But the $1250 SuperSub X somehow supersedes them all in my acoustic memory banks by nature of the fact that it gets so incredibly deep and loud without sacrificing any other important bass performance aspects. I heard no port noise (because there is no port), no distortion, no driver noise, no cabinet vibrations, and no over-hang or sloppiness of any sort. I’m sure there are some criticisms to be made here, but I wasn’t able to come up with any during the short time I was able to listen to the sub rocking the Venetian Hotel room it occupied.Sure, there’s a place for the SuperSub XXL — I imagine it reaches just a bit deeper to tickle your innards in a way the SuperSub X can’t quite manage. But when bass performance this profound is available in such a compact box, it’s hard to argue in favor of going bigger. And to be sure, this has got to be in the top five most interior decorator-friendly subs on the market right now — that’s a nice bonus, especially when space is at a premium. If you get a chance to check out the SuperSub X, go prepared to be impressed. And don’t forget your credit card … you’ll probably end up using it.A version of this article first appeared on our “brother site,” DigitalTrends. In case you hadn’t heard, this Sunday, February 5th, will see the occasion of the 51st Super Bowl. The Super Bowl is a football game in which two teams, the respective winners of the AFC and NFC football conferences, vie for the title of overall champion of the NFL. If you’re already confused as to what differentiates the National Football League from the American Football Conference from the AFL-CIO, then perhaps you need a more fundamental education as to the basics of football. If you’re more interested in the history of the Super Bowl itself as opposed to trying to understand the arcane rules and governing bodies and such that control American professional football, then you’re in the right place. Long story short, the Super Bowl is a game in which the New England Patriots beat the other football team by scoring more points. Ha! Just kidding. Sometimes the other team scores more points. But usually not. Super Bowl LI will be the Patriots ninth Super Bowl appearance and, should they win, will be their fifth victory. But in fact the Pittsburg Steelers have won six Big Game matches, and the 49ers are in the five victory club. But I digress…Let’s start at the very beginning. (A very good place to start!)SUPER BOWL IThe first Super Bowl was played on January 15th, 1967 at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum. But no one even knew the first-ever Super Bowl had been played until well after that fateful day on which the Green Bay Packers crushed the Kansas City Chiefs, because the name “Super Bowl” was not applied to the game until later. (That’s what we call a neologism, folks.) Whereas these days broadcast rights to the Super Bowl are fiercely guarded, that game was shown on two networks –CBS and NBC — at the same time (there were only three major broadcasters at the time anyway. Poor ABC). An estimated 51 million people watched Super Bowl I, which is impressive, when you think about it, as that means more than a quarter of all Americans tuned in for the first of its kind event.THE BIGGEST SUPER BOWL BLOWOUTIt’s not easy to be a fan of some NFL teams. The Washington Redskins are notorious for their ability to give up leads in the fourth quarter; the Detroit Lions have never been to a Super Bowl; and in 1989, the Denver Broncos became the most resoundingly defeated Super Bowl loser of all time. That year saw the Broncos face the San Francisco 49ers in Super Bowl XXIV. Led by celebrated quarterback Joe Montana, and coming off a Super Bowl victory in the 1988 championship, the 49ers were heavily favored to win. But the wildly lopsided result was a surprise even to analysts of the day. The 49ers beat the Broncos 55 to 10, meaning a spread of 45 points. That still stings nearly three decades later.CLOSEST SUPER BOWL EVEROn the far side of the spectrum, we have Super Bowl XXV from 1991. In that storied contest, the New York Giants beat out the Buffalo Bills by ONE POINT. And amazingly, the game ended with the Bills losing after their kicker missed a field goal attempt by about two feet. The loss in Super Bowl XXV began an infamous precedent for the Buffalo Bills, who would go on to lose four Super Bowl games in a row. And no, the Bills have never won the Big Game. Sigh.SUPER BOWL COMMERCIAL COSTSIt’s common knowledge that many people watch the Super Bowl for the commercials, not to see the Patriots win yet again. During Super Bowl I, TV commercials cost $37,000 per half-minute of airtime. And that was a lot then, sure. But keep this in mind: adjusted for inflation, $37k in 1967 is about equivalent to $265,ooo today. Got it? Good. In 1974, ads first hit the $100,000+ per 30-second cost. This was during Super Bowl VIII, for the record. Between 1984 and 1985, the price of a Super Bowl commercial vaulted from around $370k per half minute all the way to $525k for the same amount of airtime. And by 1994, a 30-second Super Bowl ad cost more than one million dollars. In 2017, companies are shelling out around FIVE MILLION DOLLARS per half minute of broadcast real estate. Also known as $166,666 per second.SUPER BOWL HALFTIME SHOW NOTABLESBeyond the game itself and the beloved Big Game commercials, it’s the Super Bowl Halftime Show that draws in plenty of viewers. The mid-game performance has been headlined by everyone from Michael Jackson to Bruce Springsteen to the Rolling Stones. And those acts all make sense. But let’s not forget that along with some great music, the Super Bowl Halftime show has also been the main stage for multiple notorious events, such as the Janet Jackson/Justin Timberlake “Wardrobe Malfunction” and the wonderful failings of “Left Shark.” The Super Bowl Halftime Show also serves as a veritable time capsule, helping us recall the way we really were as we reflect on certain past acts. Examples include 1991’s appearance by the New Kids on the Block and 1999’s turn by Big Bad Voodoo Daddy. Yes, seriously. Now that you’ve got a little bit of background, go forth and more fully enjoy the game. 7 Couples Costumes That Don’t Suck Editors’ Recommendations The Best Documentaries on Netflix Right Now 15 Best Subscription Boxes for Men Who Love Gifts Highland Park Takes Tailgating to Another Level The Best New Men’s Grooming Brands You Need to Know About
If You Haven’t Visited the Kentucky Bourbon Trail, What Are You Waiting For? Editors’ Recommendations Black Flame is officially the 2018 Color of the Year, and we’re elated. (No more Millennial Pink, please)PPG Paint celebrated the turning over of the year with a new trending color, Black Flame (#PPG1043-7), shedding its whimsical 2017 Color of the Year, Violet Verbena, and moving into a moodier realm away from the 2016 aquatic shade, Paradise Found. The matte charcoal tone is both elegant and industrial, and can be used for a mix of modern and antique design details, sophisticated neutrals, and textures. Black Flame provokes a space that is both masculine and warm, refined and bestial. (Just like you.)“Black Flame acts like a black curtain, allowing your other décor elements to take center stage,” says PPG. “It’s a fantastic blend of black and navy, two classic hues. Black creates the silence we crave in an information-heavy world, while the navy offers possibility and a deep hopefulness. The blend of two colors makes it incredibly versatile — use it on a statement wall; with a matte finish on a ceiling; with high gloss on a naturally-lit staircase; on cabinets, interior and exterior doors; and in many more places.”Get with the trend and renovate your living room around Black Flame. Once you’ve painted the walls, decorate as follows.FurnitureCouch: Stockholm SofaCreamy caramel leather evokes an earthy feel against a Black Flame wall. Ikea’s Stockholm sofa in the Seglora Natural color fits the bill, with durable full-grain leather that maintains its composure under years of wear.Chair: Peppy 1 Seater Lounge ChairMaintain an airiness by adding a chair to your living room furniture set that is simple and ivory. The Peppy 1 Seater Lounge Chair is a lively and humorous lounger inspired by ’60s Scandinavian design. Characteristic buttons give it a seductive, handsome charm, while its modern simplicity balances out heavy hues of gold, black, and caramel throughout the rest of the room. (Match the shade to your velvet sofa pillows to pull together the seemingly polar furniture styles.)Coffee Table: Live Edge Walnut SlabThis custom gem sold on Etsy by AntonMakaDesigns pulls together the brown hues of the Stockholm sofa with the dark tone of Black Flame. The result is a super high-quality and totally unique coffee table made of wood, metal, powder-coated black, and matte black, made to order just. This major design piece lends to the sensation that your home is a cozy cave.Side Table: Tri Brushed Bronze Side TablesBlack Flame calls for the accompaniment of bronze. Add one or two bronze side tables for resting your whiskey while you and guests relax. The triangular shape is bold and modern, and works with the angles of the chandelier. The size is also modest, allowing more eye-catching (read: expensive) furniture to take control of the room.Fireplace: Malm FireplaceThe makers of Malm started experimenting with fireplace designs as a side hobby to their full-time sheet metal manufacturing jobs. Now, the iconic freestanding fireplace brand can transform any living space into a cozy den. Unlike traditional wood-burning stoves, Malm gives you a clear view of the fire from a variety of angles at night. Meanwhile, the design is high enough to make it shine during the day. Alongside Black Flame walls, you’ll provoke the sense of being outdoors even while inside.AccessoriesLighting: The Wright Collection Restoration Hardware’s Wright Collection takes the concept of a grand chandelier and swaps the crystal for steel. Remaining spare and elegant, the Wrights are hand-forged, hammered iron frames with tailored white linen shades. The design works to conjoin light and dark with sharp, organic angles.Art: Bulls, Absracts, MastersThere’s a variety of art styles that can put the finishing touches on your Black Flame living room renovation. Choose according to your personal preferences, but opt for one of the following: large black-and-white animal photographs such as Amy Carroll’s Bull Horns, vibrant abstracts such as Amy Gray’s Fahrenheit that can match other color pops through the room, and old master paintings from the 16th to the 19th centuries along the thread of The Otto Naumann Sale. And remember these hacks for hanging pictures frames and other wall art.Pillows: Leisure Gray PillowWe love CB2’s 23-inch leisure pillow made of gray cotton velvet and cotton canvas for providing us accent pillows that still look manly while being comfy enough to nap on during lazy weekend Netflix binges. The richness of velvet marries with smoky black but adds dimensional tufts of texture. If your personal aesthetic is bold, spice up the room with the plum or copper colorways.Radio: Model One DigitalTivoli Audio’s reimagined radio infuses your walls with beautiful rugged design, smart tech, and rich sound. Listening is made easy (via FM, Bluetooth, and WiFi), and design is made simple. The knitted texture of the speaker, along with the faded ash black box, is a perfect match to accessorize your Black Flame room.Books: Cabin Porn and Hell’s AngelsAdorn your coffee table with the perfect books, one for drooling over and the other for re-reading over and over again. Start with Cabin Porn: Inspiration for Your Quiet Place Somewhere. It’s exactly as sexy as it sounds: images of rural escapes. Top this book with a 1967 first edition of Hunter S. Thompson’s iconic Hell’s Angels. Your street cred will go up for even owning this piece of history, and the cover lends a pop of deep red with dark black and grays that give it a home in your new living room composition.Plant: Potted 60-inch Cardón CactusAdding greenery is one of the quickest ways to infuse a room with no-mess texture, color, and life. For this room, tropical foliage will be too busy. Go sparse and clean with one tall cactus. Tall and lean, CB2’s Cardón Cactus creates new dimensions of height (we suggest positioning opposite your Malm Fireplace for best composition), and the feel of wide-open spaces. Hyper true-to-life, this cactus is actually a faux saguaro, so don’t worry if you forget to water it … or if you lean into the hairs. Want the real thing? Call your local nursery.
