Photo credit: FlickrIn the hope of a better business climate in 2012, the latest issue of LINK newsmagazine (the Christmas edition) is suggesting that the Dominica government consider having a “NO VAT” shopping day sometime in the New Year.Similar to Barbados having successfully implemented the very original “duty-free” shopping day open to everyone, not just travelers, to help stimulate their economy, the newsmagazine believes that a “NO VAT” shopping day here in Dominica would not only help local consumers, but would also mean an increase in sales for local businesses on that particular day. In other words, a boost for the entire economy and beneficial to both buyer and seller! The St. Kitts government just last week announced something similar! It would seem that that kind of initiative be worthy of some consideration by the Ministry of Finance.Press Releaselast_img
