Manti has now won six state titles (1966, 2003, 2008, 2015, 2018, 2020) and this is head coach Devin Shakespear’s third state title, setting a new school record. Joshua Thalman had 15 points and 5 rebounds in the loss for the Wildcats, who end the season at 19-5. Manti concludes the season at 25-1 and only lost to Class 4-A Dixie on the season.3-A Consolation Championship GameTAYLORSVILLE, Utah-Tuhker Mulford posted 12 points on 4-4 from the field and Grantsville downed South Sevier 49-36 in the 3-A consolation championship game at Salt Lake Community College Saturday. Jackson Sandberg added 10 points and 11 rebounds in the win for the Cowboys, who end the season at 15-10. Brennen Hunt had 15 points in defeat for the Rams, who end the campaign at 11-14.2-A State Championship GameRICHFIELD, Utah-Ky Brown’s 24 points led the Beaver Beavers to a 55-49 win over Enterprise in the 2-A state title game Saturday at the Sevier Valley Center. This was the Beavers’ sixth all-time state title (1983, 1993, 1995, 2002, 2018, 2020). Tyler Hiatt’s 13 points led the Wolves in the loss.2-A Consolation Championship GameRICHFIELD, Utah-Connor McKee stepped up with 14 points as the American Heritage Patriots pounded North Sevier 63-48 at the Sevier Valley Center Saturday in the 2-A consolation championship game. Burke Mickelsen’s 16 points led the Wolves in defeat.1-A State Tournament First RoundMILFORD, Utah-Zach Sherwood led the way with 24 points in victory as the No. 15 seed Milford Tigers smacked No. 18 seed Tintic 54-41 Saturday in the first round of the 1-A state tournament. Hayden Brunson had 13 points in the loss for the Miners. Milford next faces No. 2 seed Valley Wednesday at 4:00 pm at Richfield High School in the second round of the 1-A state tournament.PRICE, Utah-Tyrel Brian netted 23 points as the No. 17 Wayne Badgers smacked No. 16 seed  Pinnacle 70-56 in the first round of the 1-A state tournament Saturday. Mikey Vigil had 18 points in defeat for the Panthers. Wayne next faces No. 1 seed Manila at Richfield High School Wednesday at 1:00 pm in the second round of the 1-A state tournament.Girls Basketball3-A State Championship GameTAYLORSVILLE, Utah-Cassie Johnson made the go-ahead mid-range jumper in the closing seconds and the South Sevier Rams overcame a 46-42 deficit with under a minute left to prevail 47-46 over Judge in the 3-A state championship game Saturday at Salt Lake Community College. The Rams have now won their sixth state title in girls basketball (1981, 1982, 2000, 2007, 2008), breaking a 12-year drought in the process. Presley Chappell (16 points, 14 rebounds, 8-12 shooting) was the heroine for the Rams all game long and stole a desperation inbounds pass from the Bulldogs after Johnson’s  heroics to seal the game. Teya Sidberry (13 points, 13 rebounds) led Judge in the loss.3-A 3rd-4th Place GameTAYLORSVILLE, Utah-Nicole Willardson stepped up with 13 points and 6 rebounds on 4-5 from the field as Richfield bested Grantsville 48-42 Saturday to earn third place in the 3-A state tournament at Salt Lake Community College. Jarica Steck added 11 points and 7 boards for the Wildcats, who end the season at 20-6. Grantsville finished 21-5 on the season and was led by Ashlee Edwards’ 18 points and 8 rebounds.2-A Championship GameRICHFIELD, Utah-Kobree Penney posted 25 points and the Millard Eagles outlasted North Summit 77-75 Saturday in the 2-A Championship game at the Sevier Valley Center. The Eagles won their second all-time state title and second in three years. Kennady McQueen netted 20 points in the loss for the Braves.2-A 3rd-4th GameRICHFIELD, Utah-Brinley Cornell led the way with 17 points as Kanab earned third place in the 2-A state tournament by downing Wasatch Academy 45-40 Saturday at the Sevier Valley Center. Nataly Dunka had 16 points in the loss for the Tigers.1-A Tournament First RoundEUREKA, Utah-Kenzie Lyman posted 14 points as the No. 17 seed Escalante Moquis got past the No. 16 seed Tintic 37-33 in the first round of the 1-A state tournament.
