The house is a parallelepiped composed of two areas – an insulated opaque area and a transparent unheated area. It has two faces, one is light on polycarbonate sheeting (garden side) the other is rugged, covered by opaque fibrocement sheets (street side). We chose fibrocement for it’s rocky aspect, similar to the stone houses just in front of the house.Save this picture!© Philippe RuaultThe south facade (street side) changes constantly along with the requirements of light, transparency, privacy, protection or ventilation of the inhabitants. Folding shutters can be completely closed forming a shell or completely open over 6 meters wide. The facade breathes to the rhythm of the users’ life.Save this picture!Floor PlanThe clients wanted a house with a large greenhouse so they could live closer to nature. The greenhouse extends their living space to the vineyards of Champagne. This area is also a source of passive heat for the house through the cold season. To avoid overheating during summer there is a roof ventilation panel of 18 meters wide that can be opened along with the accordion shutters to create stack effect ventilation.Save this picture!© Philippe RuaultProject gallerySee allShow less2014 Wolfson Economics Prize Exhibition Explores the Potential of Garden CitiesEventMalaca House / Mario Martins AtelierSelected Projects Share CopyHouses•Neuville-sur-Seine, France Architects: Hérard & da Costa Area Area of this architecture project Charvot House / Hérard & da CostaSave this projectSaveCharvot House / Hérard & da Costa Save this picture!© Philippe Ruault+ 27 Share 2009 France Area:  328 m² Area:  328 m² Year Completion year of this architecture project ShareFacebookTwitterPinterestWhatsappMailOrhttps://www.archdaily.com/545144/charvot-house-herard-and-da-costa Clipboard ShareFacebookTwitterPinterestWhatsappMailOrhttps://www.archdaily.com/545144/charvot-house-herard-and-da-costa Clipboard Year:  Charvot House / Hérard & da Costa CopyAbout this officeHérard & da CostaOfficeFollowProductsGlassSteel#TagsProjectsBuilt ProjectsSelected ProjectsResidential ArchitectureHousesNeuville-sur-SeineHousesFrancePublished on September 13, 2014Cite: “Charvot House / Hérard & da Costa” 13 Sep 2014.
